Our mission

At Hounds in Homes, our mission is to rescue greyhounds from the racing industry and provide them with loving foster homes where they can rehabilitate and adjust to life as pets. Our small team of dedicated volunteers works tirelessly to ensure each greyhound is treated as family until they find their forever homes.

Our model of care

Lanes to lounge

  1. Rescue: We save greyhounds from the racing industry.

  2. Rehabilitate: Each greyhound is placed in a foster home, helping them acclimate to life as pets while allowing carers to understand their personalities and needs.

  3. Transition: Our foster carers provide love, care, and training to help greyhounds transition smoothly into their new lives as pets.

  4. Rehome: Once ready, our greyhounds are placed with their perfect forever families.

  5. Support: Post-adoption, we are here to support you through the transition period, ensuring a successful and happy life for both you and your new pet.

Why Greyhounds?

Greyhounds are among the top 10 most gentle dog breeds. They are:

  • Loyal

  • Loving

  • Affectionate

All our greyhounds have been nurtured in foster homes and are only listed for adoption when they are fully ready to become cherished family members.

Adopter stories & experiences

“I wouldn't have had the confidence to take on Jai if it wasn't for you and Maryana. Your care and expertise gave him a shot at a normal life that most greyhounds in his state wouldn't have got, let alone an uninjured one.Your advice and leading by example helps me understand what it takes, and I can do my best to take care of him knowing every day he gets is one he without a doubt would not have had if it wasn't for Hounds in Homes."

Our logo

Our logo has a heartwarming story behind it. It was created by Chloe Ryan, an artist, in memory of her greyhound Gilbert, who passed away in 2021. Gilbert was an amputee who proved that life was still good, even with three legs. Our logo is a constant reminder of this beautiful breed and his family: Sandra, Chloe, and Gilbert.
